Default Radar Detector

Just a general questions if someone can answer.
If you mount your Radar Detecor ontop of secrete compartment(inbetween head rests, infront of windscreen), does it effect your radars range? sorry for newb. question. Didnt know if the curve of windshield or anything like that effects it.

it might have an effect on police hitting you from the side or behind you with the top up but as far as straight on (95% of the time) i dont see why it would.

Theoretically the ideal position for detecting radar is high and unblocked, so the windblocker, lower and
partially obstructed by the windshield frame, is probably slightly worse. The question is, does it really matter?
A radar detector will detect radar long before the radar can measure your speed. I had a friend many years
ago who would leave his detector on the floor of his 911, about the worst possible spot, and had no problem
detecting radar in time, but this was before wide use of instant-on radar - now you need to detect it when
it's sampling vehicles far ahead of you.
A likely bigger impact would be on its laser-detecting abilities. It's a much narrower beam, usually aimed at
your license plate, and you'd likely pick up much less scatter further back. But again, does it matter? for the
most part, when you detect laser you're already being measured, and the alarm simply informs you that
you're going to get a ticket...

I can't see the warning lights, signal strength, or sensor count unless mounted on the dash. Purely academic now that I reside in Virginia.

I've ran a Valentine 1 mounted on the modifry GoPro mount for years & never had any issue. I use the Bluetooth adapter & use my phone as a remote display using a modifry dash mount
