I have a V1. I think it is great.

I try to keep around the speed limit, especially on the freeways. However, there are always times when I need to get around someone. The biggest benefit for me is the pretty advanced warning that I get, and also the arrows. Especially at night. The arrows are very helpful.

I got hit by a motorcycle cop using a laser the other day. Scared the s**t outta me. I had the top down earlier, and I always have to turn up the volume. Well, I put the top up because it was going to start raining. Forgot that I had the volume up really loud. He hit me with the laser. If you have a V1, you know the sound. Scared the hell outta me.

I've got the cordless Escort. Not as good as a V1, I'm sure, but it was a gift, and I think it was about $100-$150 less than the V1. It is still pretty good for the casual stuff I use it for.

Good point about the v1 and laser. The V1 is also the best laser detector/radar detector. It will even alert to the stealth mode on most laser guns. There are some stories of people alerting to led tail lights as laser though, But i don't think its that bad. For laser, id rather have it false once or twice on a false rather than not alerting on a real laser. Laser = automatic ticket since the beam is so small.

My laser warning scares the shit out of me too. just the sound it makes

has anyone tried the escort srx? It is a radar detector/laser detector and a laser jammer built into your dash, so you don't have to worry about thieves seeing a detector, and also cops should not see it as easily, so not as likely to get ticket if you are pulled over. It retails for about $1200.

So.... lets say you have a laser jammer. What happens if you drive through a speed trap and an officer tries to clock you with his laser gun? But then he doesn't get a reading? Can he technically pull you over? Issue you a citation? arrest you? Give you a hard time? I bet he'd probably know you had something jamming his signal because he just clocked the car before and the car after you.

Oh if you really want to buy one that works, and works well. Go with one of the following IMO.

Escort 8500 x50 or 9500i
Beltronics Sti

Sorry they aren't cheap, but you gotta pay if you want something that actually performs.
These are the only 3 that work. All others are paperweights.

He could only arrest/wright you a ticket if having a laser jammer is illegal in your state. If you search the net you can find if its legal or not. And if it is legal in your state, they probably will pull you over and harass you or something since it makes their job harder knowing you beat the system.
