Exactly. And if you drive through the area a lot you will learn what is and is not a false alarm.

V1 is what I have. Radar traps are getting more sneaky and it seems like they are setting up multiple radar traps just to catch you. If you have a radar detector that doesn't tell you how many & where the signal is coming from, you could get caught by one of these radar traps. My V1 has saved me many times from these types of situations.

RE: V1--I have one and love it. The only times where I've gotten a ticket with the V1 was because:
1) Something went wrong with it; sent it to Valentine to fix. While they goodwilled the repair as it was out of warranty by half a year, I also got nailed by radar. My bad--forgot I didn't have it with me!
2) I had turned off X band (custom menu) since it's not used by California Highway Patrol. But when I moved to Dixieland here, I guess they do use it, and that's what popped me.

RE: V1 false alarms--you can choose all-bogey mode which I agree, tends to false a bit. But using Logic mode or Pro-Logic mode kills a lot of fluff. Especially now with the "Junk" filter, there aren't many falses here for me. While I haven't used any Escort products, I do highly recommend the V1. It's paid for itself several times over.

V1 til the day I die.

The only complaint I have ever heard anyone have is, "to many false alarms"

That makes me laugh... basically they are saying, "the detector is too sensitive." I want the best detector possible for the open road, if that means I have to hear the thing beep in town, then so be it. I will never complain about a detector doing its job

Escort 8500 x50 = Bel, same guts for equal models.

For too many alert guy and goes off during acceleration, read the manual. Seriously. Just turn off laser, and cut out the noisy bands or go to city mode.

v1, the 8500 has ID for as many radars as are out there. x bars and strength reading for each radar and each frequency...

Never had to worry about a radar behind me...

The sensitivity is fantastic, and POP is critical in my world.

Um... well, if I were planning to break the law, the first thing I would do is not post my intent to break the law on an open internet forum.

The second thing I would do is look into integrated detectors like the K40. They are expensive, but undetectable.

For sure, integrated if stealth matters.
