For VA the Bel/Escort latest generation have true stealth. The new cop detector detectors are pretty good.

I have a bel rx65. It got great ratings from most sites that I checked and it was a lot less exspensive than the V1 or the 9500i.

If some people could take the time to take pictures of their radar detector setups, it would be appreciated

I have a Bel Vector. It's been great. I went on a drive a week ago, and while my detector was going off, a couple of guys who had V1s were not having any alarms. It alerted me three times to cop activity, while the guys in the V1 were left wondering.

I don't know if this is normal behavior for a V1, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. But I'm happy with my Vector for $140.

Sorry, I should have addressed this before, and sorry again because I don't have any pictures, so you're going to have to settle for words.

Since laser became more common I've started mounting the units centered directly under the rear view mirror, but down closer to the dash. This seems to give the best shot at picking up laser that comes from behind. The main thing is to make sure that the laser sensors have as clear a view in all directions as possible.

I was out and around this evening, and was reminded of something else about the 9500i that is worth knowing about, but not often discussed. The GPS is used to adjust the squelch settings based on vehicle speed. This feature alone cuts out the VAST majority of all false alarms encountered in city driving, without reducing the warning time for genuine hits. Tonight I was in an area where both my old V1 and S02 would go off almost constantly, but the 9500i was totally silent, until we got an actual hit. PLENTY of warning; Very few false alarms. The more I use the 9500i, the more I like it.

The V1 is great too, and the S02 is effective and the portability is great, but I'm quite sure I'll never want to own another detector that doesn't make use of the benefits of GPS.

Who else here has a 9500i?

Gotta make sure you custom-set the radar based on where you live to cut down on false alerts.

I turn off laser and X band. I have K band alert only when it's a very strong signal. Ka is really the only band that matters to me.

Sorry ill post pics tomorrow....

One more thing.... Radar detectors should not be used to prevent against laser... Radar detectors will tell you if you got hit by a laser but by that time the cop has your speed reading. Lasers these days get your speed in about .6 seconds. its instant.... You cant do anything short of geting a laser jammer (which is legal).

Radar detectors no matter how much they advertise laser detection its all BS.... it will detect it when ur getting hit.... its not like radar which can be detected a mile down the road.... Sometimes you might get lucky and the laser hits off another car but i doubt it....

Drive safe!

also radars detectors and laser jammers are not for when your going 120+.... that i do not approve of... but to each his own...

Radar detectors and laser jammers are for when ur going about 20 over..... i commtue everyday and i drive at about 75 the whole way there.... most cops out here in Long island, NY would stop me over that....
