Default Resync Viper Remote

My battery went dead after 3 months of being parked and now the remote to my Viper alarm is not sync'd with the car. When I push buttons the remote responds as if it's out of range. The led inside my car is just blinking slowly, but the system is not armed. I've tried pressing the lock button repeatedly, as the manual says, and it didn't work. I also tried turning on the ignition and pressing and holding the the valet button. What else can I do?

Which Viper alarm do you have? Check the battery of the remote or try it with the second remote. The car battery being dead shouldn't effect the sync of the alarm system, the alarm brain has an EPROM.

I have disconnected my battery a few times and my alarm remote 2 way pager and 1 way works fine.

reprogram it. i think its keep it on ign and press the valet a number of times(depending on what you have programed on your remote) then hold the vallet. so for example. standard config is 1, press once and prss again but hold. wait for a tone from your siren and press lock then unlock etc etc... not too difficult

I have the 791xv. I did the valet thing, but I didn't know there was a sequence of buttons I had to push on the remote. I just pushed lock once (and it didn't work). Do you know what the sequence is?

straight from the viper manual..

1. open a door
2.turn the key to the ON position.
3. Within 10 seconds, press and release the program switch the number of times corresponding to the desired channel listed below. once you have selected the channel, press the switch oncce more and HOLD it. the LED will flash and the horn will honk(if connected) to confirm the selected channel. do not release the program switch.
4. While holding the walet/program switch, press the button on the transmitter that you would like to control the sellected receiver channel. the unit will chirp to conform that the code has been successfully propgrammed. it is not possible to teach a transmitter button to the system more then once.
5. Once the code is learned, the valet/Program switch can be released.

I belive the channel number you need is 1 (auto learn standard configuration)

so your case.
1. open the door
2. key to the ON position.
3. Press valet once and again BUT HOLD.
4. while holding press lock, unlock, aux, and siren. per press wait for siren chirp to conform.
5. replease after you got all your buttons.

should work.. hope i helped.. PM if you have any more questions

Thanks Gumbey! It took a while, but I finally got it!

I did what you said and the alarm was chirping in response, but then when I released the valet button it still wasn't working. Then, when I was about to give up and drive, I noticed the car was in valet mode. When I exited valet mode the remote beeped, and now it works.
