I understand, I started my install in April. Hopefully will be done, and post pics in the next few days. (No, my system isn't that complicated...I'm just too damn busy!)

Quick question, are the mass produced version of the S-Pods going to be any cheaper?

Quick question, are the mass produced version of the S-Pods going to be any cheaper?
I've looked into "mass production", and found that a product needs to be produced in the thousands, if not tens of thousands to warrant the tooling costs. Even producing them in the hundreds would drive up the price considerably. I've made my own tooling, which now allows me to produce a few sets a week in keeping with current demand.

Cheaper? Honda has quoted their rear speaker system at $500 + $250 installation. S-Pods are constructed from high quality materials, and look more "factory" than the product actually produced by the factory. After purchasing high quality aftermarket component speakers & S-Pods you've got a system far superior in sound and looks for half the price!Sorry, but $240 is a ridiculously reasonable price considering the cost/time to produce.

I can't believe Honda has found anyone to buy their units for $750.
I can see how a person not real familiar with the s2k could be sold after listening to a stock system in the showroom.

Mark, I'm interested in the S-pods but someone said installing Kenwoods was a pain (I have Kenwoods in rear panels that I would be using). Have you come up with a solution to this yet?
The problem isn't with Kenwoods specifically, it's with any coaxial speaker that has tweeter protrusion of 1/4" or greater. The tweeter will come into contact with the speaker grill. This can be overcome by mounting the speaker behind the mounting plate, before assembling the S-Pod. The part that is a pain is: you will be starting the 4 attachment screws blind. It just takes more time and patience.

(PM me if you'ld like to try this. I have an idea how to accomplish this more easily, but want to try it out before advertising a solution.)
