should i get a new head unit or a aux kit?
hi guys, i want to use my phone to play music in my car, should get a new head unit, which i guess will cost around 130-ish and has bluetooth connection for incoming calls. Also i heard that i have to get something else to make the left side's control works (i dont really rmb what that is, but i rmb will cost something like 60 to 80 bucks)
OR
should i just get the Aux cable kit, which cost 100 and fits perfectly with stock head unit

The Modifry DCI should get your stereo controls working with an aftermarket head unit. Check the Modifry site to make sure the HU is supported.
Both are good options. I had an aux cable adapter for several years, and it worked very well. It eventually wore out, and in the meantime Apple changed the way the dock connector provided power and then moved to the new lightning connector. So, when it came time to replace the cable, I just upgraded the whole HU to an Alpine with USB input and got the modifry DCI, which I also like a lot.
Bluetooth in the HU is fine to have, but I wouldn't make your decision based on it. I've found that bluetooth HUs don't work very well in the S - there's no good spot to put the mic, and the cabin is too noisy even with noise canceling on and the top up. I use a Jawbone era, which works much better, and can also be used with the top down. I also prefer the wired connection to streaming music over bluetooth, but YMMV.

One of the first things I bought for my car was a JVC multimedia head unit. It doesn't have a CD drive, just BT and AM/FM radio. I don't have CD's anymore and when I listen to music outside of my house, it's on my phone (including Pandora). I just wanted a decent HU that would connect automatically when I turned on the car and play my music without me connecting crap all the time. My HU has served this purpose very well and I also picked up the Modrify DCI to be able to use my controls with it.
I didn't even bother mounting the mic after seeing how short the steering column was.

It's up to you to determine. I preferred the interface (for iPhone/iPod), features and audio quality of my aftermarket head unit. If you're happy with the stock head unit then an aux kit might be a better choice.
