soon to be 2008 s2k owner have a few questions
hey all,
in the next month i'm going to be getting an 08 s2000
i am a big audiophile and am a music producer and am coming out of an infi m45 with their high end bose system with the dvd a 5.1 all that stuff.
obviously i am not getting this car for anything other than driving however i would like to get some decent sound out of it as well as i enjoy listening to music a lot and pretty much everywhere i go. just ran through the FAQ and it was very helpful as i am not very fluent with car audio lingo but i am getting a grasp.
i heard the sound system on the new model in the showroom to a few reference cds (rage against the machine - self titled, a perfect circle, opeth, a bunch of metal, some of my mixes etc.) and it wasn't all that bad however i could hear a lot of obvious dead spots and just "crap" coating from the speakers. without getting too involved i figure eventually i can just get a new HU with better speakers and probably a small sub in the back or in the spare tire compartment.
i will do my homework as far as the products go but the question i wanted to ask was if i am going to be replacing all the speakers in that car, how would i go about it???
meaning a lot of the faq was written with the early models in mind which only had like 2 speakers i think. the new model had the 2 side ones with the2 tweeters in front and 2 in each headrest. so i would have to get 8 matching speakers? what is the deal with the headrest speakers? is there an updated version of the faq for the newer models which have different configurations than the older ones??
thanks in advance

I installed components speakers in the front, and just disconnected the rear tweeters speakers. You don't want the high frequencies coming from the back and pulling your sound back anyways. I added a headunit, amp, and a small 10" sub in the trunk, i believe with good equipment and good tuning, the S2000 can be made to sound really good (even top down).

I did the same as DeLiRiOuS. Once you get a good set of components and amp them properly, you won't miss the roll hoop speakers at all.
Mine are actually still connected to the head unit, but my head unit (Alpine iDA-X100) has the option to turn off it's internal power, so I could turn them back on if I decided to.
