g-s2k, thanks. That's how I'll do it. 8 gauge. grommet below the battery. fuse in the hot line near the battery.

I replaced the stock speakers last night in 30 minutes. I put in the Sony Explode 1621's. Also got the adapter kit for the wires for 4 bucks. Got them at Best Buy. I'm happier with the sound, but I still can't turn the volume up past 4 bars without distortion. However, the new speakers are louder at four bars than the stock speakers at four bars. I guess I really want the sound of an amp. Is there a neat wiring harness for amps too, or is it labor instensive. I haven't put in any amps since the days of Kraco power boosters if you guys remember them.

I put in some 6 1/2 Pioneer horn speakers last week that made a nice difference in sound quality. However, the factory head unit has no power and can not push the speakers to their capability. Next week, I am going to have installed a Rockford Fosgate high level input amp with 4 channels. 2 channels for the front at 50x2 and around 225x1 on the subs in the near future. I am awaiting the JL audio stealthbox due out in July.

Just replaced my speakers with the Sony XSV 1621. It took me less than 20 minutes for the installation. I purchased the speakers and speaker harnes (no cutting or splicing the wires)for $85.00 total at Circuit City.

The speakers are better than the factory but not by much (that is my opinion) but at least I can hear my CD at 75 MPH better. For $85.00 I couldn't go wrong.

Hi there,

can somebody put here the max speaker size that can fit in the basket without cutting it. I would like to do some research before receiving the car (soon I hope).

Thanks for that
