Default stereo noob

MY00 has no tweeters holes on the door panels. was looking into the alpine type-r but they seem to come with tweeters. the ones that dont are the coaxial which if i understand correctly is a tweeter/woofer in one enclosure, so that dosnt help me in my quest for good component speakers.

my goal is to run 4 components, 2 in the door and 2 behind the seats. they will be amp powered. currently have a pioneer 3200 HU.

if anyone has some suggestions please post. open minded to any brands. thanks in advance!

speakers behind seats are a waste.
sound deadend doors with a good set of componets, installed correctly with a good amp to power them, and a sub to fill in the lowest is plently in a s2000, i have done it dozens of times and never had a customer unsatisfied.

I actually have the Alpine Type R components on an Alpine f300 4-channel amp in my car right now. The woofer is a tight fit and will require a spacer (as will any speaker really) and the amp is mounted in the trunk where the spare tire sits. I love the way they sound.

I am also a big fan of the JL c2's (either the 6" or the 6.5"). They would sound awesome on an amp that puts out about 100 watts a channel. Alpine has a PDX model that does that exact amount too.

I agree that you shouldn't bother with rear channel speakers and should get the best component speakers in the door you can afford. If it were me I would try to mount the tweeter similarly to how they are on the later cars. I'm sure there's a write up around here somewhere on ways to do that.
Also a good amp makes a HUGE difference.

thanks for the replies. was a little aprehensive cutting the tweeter pods. i would try and find 02+ but the blk/red interior is kinda hard to find. just ordered a pair of the c2s. gonna look for an amp for them, and also a sub/box/and amp. i had a jl 10" in my previous s2k, might go a different route.

tweeter pods in the doors is the worse place for those speakers,
i would mount them in the a pillar aimed to the glass just below the rear view mirror.

I have a set of 6.5" coaxial speakers behind my seats and they help out a good little bit. I'm considering swapping the rear 6.5" speakers for some 6.5" subwoofers and amping them and my current component speakers. It should give me a little more bass, and I won't have to lose the spare tire or any trunk space.

so on a coaxial speakers by a tweeter and "woofer" in one enclosure they mean subwoofer correct? what are the pros/cons of running these vice a sub and tweeters separately. what are tweeters used for anyways. big noob questions, I know.

a coaxial speaker is similar to a standard OEM speaker. "Mid-range" woofer with the tweeter built together. A component set would have a separate mid-range woofer, tweeter, and usually some sort of crossover. The crossover will take the signal from the source and separate the higher frequencies (treble) to the tweeter and the lower frequencies (bass) to the woofer. Ultimately giving you a cleaner more distinct sound.
