Default Stereo Upgrade

I have an 05 and Iam deciding to do a stereo upgrade. The search engine was a big help but I have 1 question of weather to get a subwoofer to put in the trunk. Do I need this? and does putting the subwoofer in the trunk, lets say mounting it to the cover of the tool compartment; would the sound be to muffled ? Any advise would be appreciated.

I don't know what the MY05 trunks look like on the inside, but "mounting to the tool department" doesn't sound like a very big subwoofer and would sound muffled and be a waste of time. Personally, I NEEDED a subwoofer, so I removed the spare tire tools (that's what I pay AAA for) and had a custom box made. When you have at least a 12" subwoofer, muffled is not an issue being that bass carries very well..so well, I have to turn it down sometimes to keep my trunk lid intact.

GOTTA LOVE BASS!!!!!

P.S. The custom box has a metal grill to protect the woofer from say...tons of shopping bags in my trunk!

I'm pretty sure you could put a 12" sub box in the bottom area that the tools are in. Just keep in mind that the shape is like that to allow you to carry a flat tire once you have put on the spare...

I know you can make it work if you don't stick to "box shaped" sub boxes...

Have one, love it. Plus you can put stuff on top of it since it's covered.

hmmm, do you need one? thats easy...no. most people dont "need" everything they buy. the real question is... "do you WANT one?"

if you want one, buy it.

I beg to differ...I personally NEEDED a sub. Without it, life just seemed so bleak!

I think feistyS2K's right, if you want to listen to some serious music, you NEED at least 1 sub.
Personally i'm getting 2 8" Alphasonik 608's. Get the enclosures from William Laurent, they look great!

Cheers
