Stock 6-disc skips constantly-- solution?
Recently bought a low-mileage '00 that came with the OEM 6-disc changer in the trunk. Problem is, any CD you play in the magazine skips constantly due to the firm ride (car is all stock, to my knowledge, with < 14K miles). It's hard for me to believe Honda could sell the CD changer as an option with such inadequate skip protection, even given the S's tight suspension. Admittedly, the surface street road quality leaves much to be desired here in the Seattle area, and I don't have much of a problem on the freeway.
Has anyone else encountered a similar skipping problem or come across a solution?

I bought my MY03 back in Jan with the OEM CD changer. It skipped every single time I changed lane and crossed over the metallic studs
(local and highway). Toke it to the dealer and replaced the box. No problem since.

On a long shot here...some CD changers come with screws that secure thier mechanism (it's kind of like a suspension for the changer), if the screws are still in place that would kill what bump dampening they have. I would check that first...
I have not installed my Alpine CD changer yet and now seeing your problem I don't think I'm going to. You made a good point about the firm ride of the S2000, there is a lot of play in the back and that might be result of excessive CD skipping. My recommendations is to get a new head unit with a built in CD player, the only con is not having the ability to select through multiple CD's.
CD changers work very well in this car. At least my Sony 10 disc does and I've heard many reports that the Honda OEM changer does too. Whoever installed the changer may not have set the vertical/horizontal screws for the suspension correctly. Since changers can be installed flat or standing on its end, these screws need to be in the proper position so the suspension can do their work.
Thanks for your help, everyone. After a few weeks I've finally found a solution. First I discovered that the springs were set for vertical travel, so I set them for horizontal. But it still skipped, just not as badly. I gave up and removed the disc player from it's cage completely and just wrapped it in some thick cloth material for extra cushioning. It's not ideal, but it's secure and it works like it's supposed to-- no skips at all anymore.
