Default Sub placement

I have finally decided to place a sub in the S and was curious on what placement produced the best sound? I first was thinking of placing a 8" in the passenger floor area (this sub only needs 2" mounting depth - inverted mag. structure). Now I'm think the trunk some where - in the well? or on one of the sides? Also, what size and how many ... 1 - 8", 2 - 8" or 1 - 10". Has anyone listened to different locations and sizes? I also understand that brand of sub will make a difference. I have about 175 - 200 watts for the sub(s). Anyone have any thoughts to help me out.

Thanks

I just completed my System this weekend and it sounds AMAZING!....This is my setup:

Alpine 7873 60WX4
Sony 3way 6.5" In Doors
Infinity Kappa 4" In rear panels
JL Audio 10W3 D2 in sealed box
MTX Audio Thunder 302 300x1RMS

The box I built was directly from the JL audio website. If you check it out the for the Monster DB sealed box you only need 0.5cubic ft

Monster Db Box

I placed the sub box in the trunk well. I removed the tool kit holder and the top of the box sits flush with the level of the trunk floor....Overall it sounds great!...Even with the top down at 100km/h there is more than enough Bass..

Go with at least a 10" with a 300W RMS amp.
Look into the JL Audio 10W3.

I think 1 or 2 8" subs wont be enough.

Peace

I'm about ready for a sub myself, but it will definitely be inside the passenger area. Which one are you referring to that is only 2" deep?

I have another alternative that you guys might want to explore. I mounted a 8" jl w3 where the spare tire used to be. Like KeithD's setup, it provides awsome bass for most styles of music, but does fall apart on dance/rap (heavy bass) if you are lookng for a lot of bass. It is a tradeoff. My last car I had 4 12" w6 and the amount of bass just got to me, so I decided on a much more pratical solution for the s2000. I still have plenty of trunk space. Here is the link to the thread with pictures.

I installed a 12'inch Kicker comp VR in the well and flush to the floor. I even had enough room to put the amp right next to it. I sounds great for all types of music..

Thanks for the input ... I finally decided to go with a Kicker Comp VR 10" in the well. It is flush mounted ... IMO it looks and sounds great. I believe the one item that makes it work with just about every type of music is the sub control built into the head unit. This allow a lot of adjustability. I do notice some difference with the top up and down, but like I mentioned, that is were the sub control comes in handy. So, here is my setup:

Sony 760 EX head unit
Diamond Audio M5 6.5" components (silk dome tweeters)
Kicker Comp VR 10"
PG 400.4 amp (mounted on top/inside of the spare tire)
