Default System Help

Ok, I have a few questions on my current setup and want to know if I need to get more power or if I did something wrong since I installed this myself.

System specs:
Alpine CDA9857 w/Ipod Cable
Infinity Kappa 6.1 Perfect
Infinity Reference 5741 4ch Amp
eD 11kv.2 (Dual 2ohm VC) 10" sub in wlaurent v2 box
Modifry Wired DCI
knukoncepts wiring

The components sound amazing, but I'm not feeling good punch from the subwoofer. Its set up in a 4ohm configuration which Infinity says the amp is stable at. I mainly play music through my IPOD so heres the slew of questions on why my bass isn't as present as I'd like.

Since its on an IPOD, is it likely a bad source signal?
Am I expecting too much from the 10" Sub?
Would Sound Deadening the trunk area (and top tray) fix the sound? ( I plan to do this anyways)
Is the amp not powerful enough to push the sub where it needs to be?

If its the amp, could I get some opinions on the following replacements or suggestions from people on what they think would be a good choice? Im looking at the following:
Hifonics BXi 1206D - Hifonics 1 Ch 1200 Watt Brutus Amplifier
Hifonics ZXi 4006 - Hifonics 2 Ch 400 Watt Zeus Amplifier

P.S. I would like to thank darkknight1999 and NFRs2000NYC for all their help so far

1)No, Ipods signals from the fullspeed cable are perfectly fine.

2)No, a 10" is plenty.

3)IMHO, no, but others might disagree. I dont have any, and my car is loud as hell.

4)Maybe. What does that amp push at 4ohms, and what can the sub handle?

5)You're welcome.

Infinity's website claims 278 watts RMS x 2 channel at 4 ohms, 14.4V supply and ≤ 1% THD + N for the amp.

ED's website says 300/600 WRms, but their power chart shows that wattaget to be "in range."

Maybe it can be my tune. I'm no professional and I could have funky settings on the HU or on the gain/xover settings on the amp. I dont want to wire for another amp and spend the money on two new amps if this is one is sufficient.

on the HU, get the "subwoofer level" to +15.

supposedly, instead of 0 being reference and + being gains, +15 is reference

i was perplexed, too, since my older alpine was not this way (9813)

I tuned at +15 as well.

Burn yourself a good 30min 50hz test tone and plug in your volt meter. Should be easy to find the correct gain.

Mine sounded just as you say at first also with eyeballing the settings. Just take your time and do it by the numbers and it will come out great.

Sounds like a good plan Boofster. I will defifately do this the next time around. I say next time because today the sub channel quit producing sound, and I dont have a voltmeter(with me right now) to see where the problem is, but I have a feeling its the amp. It goes into protect mode way to easy as well with a short amount of loud volume.

Anyone have any opinions on the Hifonics amps? Just as a refresher:

Hifonics BXi 1206D - Hifonics 1 Ch 1200 Watt Brutus Amplifier
Hifonics ZXi 4006 - Hifonics 2 Ch 400 Watt Zeus Amplifier
