Hey all, I really need some help with system upgrade. I just installed new Alpine idx-100 hu and replaced stock speakers with a pair of polk 165 slims. If i want to improve on sound should i amp the speakers? I am also thinking of putting a sub in the trunk. Any help would be greatly appreciated, trying to keep the cost down.

an amp will help those speakers out alot. ive got the same ones powered by a 40x2 amp and they sound pretty good. i am upgrading to the polk mmc6500 components though. as far as a sub in the trunk, you can find a cheap but good box on ebay. i just got one for 70 bucks shipped.

 

Thanks for the info! Let me know about the sound after you get your sub installed. I've seen the box on ebay, may be my next purchase.
