Testing - Multi Radio DCI for Eclipse HU's
I think it would be great to have the extra function but I would be more worried about your time. Is it worth it to you to do this? Will everyone else start asking for multiple functions for their brand of radio too? Just something to think about. I am happy with the stock controls, but I'll take what I can get.
I share USAce's opinion ... no need on my part to put the treble/bass/fader on the DCI.
For me the KISS principle is best when driving (keep-it-simple-stupid). Rarely do I change these functions once they set on the HU. When changed, they are all handled by a quick press of the easy to reach left-hand radio knob.
SUGGESTIONS:
1.) CD TRACK CHANGE Button
- Now this is something I use all the time on the HU. Curious if others would value this option as well. Could use the "Channel" button to increment the tracks and use the combined Mode/Channel buttons to backtrack?
I found myself trying to use the Channel button like a radio channel change button when I was trying to change the CD tracks. Without the button you need to reach over the shifter and turn the far right control knob on the HU to the next track and pray you don't over shoot the next song. If you are not watching what you are doing at a high speed, its easy to loose your concentration on the most important thing ... Driving.
2.) REPLACE MUTE WITH PAUSE
- I know when I have to mute the CD because of an incoming call or some chit-chat with the spouse, I'd really prefer that the CD "pause" instead of just "muting". With mute the CD just keeps on tracking through all the song(s) until you turn the mute off. Then you end up trying to backtrack to where you left off before pressing mute.
Feedback? - Are these preferences shared by others?

First off - thanks for the feedback, I'll take all I can get. When I was first building the DCI I asked for input, but I think people were just glad to get anything at all and were afraid to ask for too much lest it delay the product. Some changes are easy, some are not, and you guys can't know which is which, so go ahead and ask for everything. Trust me, I'll tell you if it's too hard to do.
Now, for some of the questions - I'll take these out of order.

I like the Bass/Treble control idea as I listen to a wide variety of music and I like to keep the radio door closed. I have only one question for now...Is this available for the Eclipse head units yet? This thread started out as testing and there have been no further reports if it works or not. Just checking....
Modifry,
Is there / could there be a button combination that will turn off the speed adjustments for volume. This automatic volume adjustment is a great feature with top down.
But would be great to be able to turn this off when the hardtop is on.

Eclipse owners,
Sorry this has taken so long. I'm having 24 new windows installed in my home and its sucking up time I would normally spend on the road.
I have been using the test DCI for Eclipse for the last 2 weeks.
The unit does work. There are some quirks that Modifry knows about.
1.) Unlike other brands, the automatic speed volume adjustment increments by 2 increments instead of 1. The volume scale on the Eclipse units (at least my 8053) increases 2 units for each click of the volume dial/remote. This occurs until the volume reaches "50" at which point each click increases by a unit of 1. The current test version is being adjusted by Modifry so that the volume doesn't rocket up volume like it does on the test unit. If I have it set at "38" when at a traffic light it will shoot up to "50"+. by somewhere around 75 mph.
2.) The Mute works fine for the radio but it does not "pause" the CD, it just mutes it. Meaning that the CD continues to track with out any volume. There is a message about the "ATT phone mute" (?) that flashes on screen. Appears that it is trying to use the pink phone wire mute. There is a button for pause on the HU but it appears at this point that the Eclipse, like other brands, will not let you pause the CD using the mute button.
Otherwise, everything else performs beautifully. Very quick response without delay. CD tracks increment as expected. Channels change quickly as expected. Mode changes as they should.
As noted above, it would be nice to have a button combination to disable the speed volume function when the top is up or the hardtop is on. Attenuation is not really necessary with the top on.
Thank you Modifry.
