In case it's not obvious, I cast my vote as an enthusiastic "YES" to the SCV On/Off.

If the DCI could remember the last SCV On/Off Setting prior to tunring off the ignition, that would also be a benefit. For example, if you had the SCV turned off when you parked the car (top-up), chances are that's the same way you'd want to start the car up again and vice-versa. This isn't a necessity, but it would be a nice "luxury".

Hey, how about using the combo-buttons to change the time on the clock? [Oh no, I can feel the sarcastic wit kicking in ... It's too late ... abort message, abort message]

Modifry,

Not trying to be a pain (I know I already am one ), but what have you decided to do to the DCI (i.e., what changes are you going to make)?

Also, what can we expect for a turnaround time?

Cool, I can be patient. I would rather kill two birds with one update (to mangle a phrase.)

Thanks for all the cool R&D on an already cool product!

Wouldn't listen, huh? OK EVERYBODY, THE RE-WORK PRICE IS NOW $30.

(just kidding)

To answer your first question - I'm starting to think I should use the extra button combo to do SCV on/off as the standard feature set. All new DCI's would have that function on the MODE-CH button combination. And it would remember the last setting and use it on the next power-up.

As far as turn-around time on the re-work program, that's sticky. I have a regular job and only do this stuff on the weekends, and if the honey-bunny has plans for the weekend she comes first. So committing to a turn-around time would be tough for me to do.

How about this? Would you be willing to accept a used DCI in place of yours? If so, I can offer to send you a re-worked DCI in advance, you swap it for yours and send yours back to be used for the next re-work. I can "seed" the re-work program with a few new units to get it started and I have no problem offering a 90 day guarantee on any of the units I re-work.

I could do this for $20 plus shipping to you, and I prefer Priority Mail ($4). If you don't like Priority Mail just pay for whatever shipping you want. If you want to trust regular mail I'm sure it can be sent for about a buck, but YOU take the risk if it gets lost. I send all my Glove Box Organizers regular mail and have yet to lose one but it can happen.

I would prefer to not have to resort to getting an advance payment for a full DCI and doing a "core charge" refund - too much trouble. So far I've not been screwed by any of my "mod" customers so I'm willing to begin this process by just getting the re-work charge + shipping up front, then as I have time I would do the work and ship the DCI out.

You have to understand that there would be no set "turn-around time" - it might be 3 weeks before I have time to do your re-worked DCI. But you would still have the original in your car so there won't be any down time for you.

For those customers who don't like my choice of features, you can always ask for something custom when I do the re-work. I could make SCV on/off default to ON if you want, or put the SOUND function on the MODE-CH combo if you prefer.

Do not start sending me money. I'm not ready yet.

It will be a few weeks before I can start this program. I will put up a web page that describes the process and options available and will let you know when it's ready. Feel free to continue offering ideas and suggestions.
