Testing - Multi Radio DCI for Eclipse HU's
Hopefully Mr Weaver will have some good news for us when he gets the new unit.
He accurately described why the Eclipse DCI got released in the first place - as far as I could tell it worked fine at my local Hi-Fi Buys.
I would like to make one thing clear - once we get this thing figured out (and we will) I will replace any Eclipse DCI that you guys have with the new version. This will be handled directly through me, not Lucid, since it was my mistake (did I say the "M" word?).
Once we have a new version that works, I'll post a thread announcing the upgrade plan, but it will probably work like this:
1. I send you a new DCI with (hopefully) working Eclipse software.
2. You plug it into the harness in place of your existing one.
3. You return the old DCI in the same envelope (postage provided).
I apologize for the problems and hope to get you all up and running soon.

I am just greatful that you are willing to send us new DCI's that fix the "minor" problems associated with it as you were certainly under no obligation to do so (especially for free).
I would just like to say, "Thank You", and I for one appreciate all the Mods you have made available for us S2k owners.

testing of version #3 completed this am.
* Volume Attenutation and SCV volume problem still exists. Increments by 4 units below setting = "50" and increments by 2 at setting >= "50" instead incrementing 2 units < "50" & 1 unit @ volumes >= "50"
* all other functions work as expected.
* have not tested SCV on/off as yet. (forgot the button combination to make it work)

i don't own an eclipse unit, but i do own a nak unit that also sends single IR commands like modifry has stated. i am eager to just get a working dci for my unit and did not consider asking for additional functions but...
is it possible to make the dci make a confirmational "beep" to indicate whether or not SCV has been activated/deactivated? (i got this idea from my HU because with each function that is pressed it "beeps" to confirm that a button was pressed.) unless there is any other way besides accelerating and decelerating to know if the SCV is on/off, i think this "beeping" function would be great! but if this is just not going to be practically fesible, please just ignore my post.
and thanks again modifry for all your efforts, and also djweaver for the testing...

Sorry this has taken so long. Lost my remote and I have been tearing the house apart (every drawer & closet, nook & cranny, and spare auto parts box) but no luck.
Good news is today I drove to Boston and was able to borrow one for a week from the dealer that sold me the Eclipse HU. Thank god I bought the HU from a dealer instead of on-line.
UPDATE - the test with the new Eclipse remote yielded the SAME results as the DCI!!!
The remote caused the volume to increase 2X more than the volume knob on the HU
I tested the remote 2 ways:
1.) Per Modifry's instructions I pointed the remote out the window, pressed the button, then swung is around while still holding the button down and pointed at the HU and the volume went up 4 units below "50" and up 2 units at "50"+ ...
2.) Then I just pointed the remote directly at the HU and used all the remote buttons. The remote did the same thing as #1 above.
After tax filing, I will be taking the car into Boston Audio Design and asking them to pull the HU and see if my Hu has the switch mentioned in an earlier post and see if changing the switch makes any difference.

So if I read you right, the DCI works just like your Eclipse remote. And they both work different than the HU. Very interesting.
Obviously I can only make the DCI mimic the factory remote, so hopefully your dealer can figure out how to program your HU to act "correctly" when it receives an IR command.
Keep us updated, and thanks for testing this out.
