Is there a DIY headunit install guide for the AP2?

I followed this several months ago to install an iPod/iPhone integration (AUX in) to my AP2 stock HU without any problem - and I am a complete when it comes to taking things apart and putting them back on my car!!!

Bringing this back to life after I've used the "search" button. Great thread!

So do I need any kind of kit to install an aftermarket HU in the S2k? Does it use those stock bolts? How is it held in?

I would guess that the mounting holes / screws for even aftermarket HU would conform to some kind of standard pattern that matches the OEM HU... so mounting should not be any problem.

You would probably want to invest in a harness for just plugging in the unit instead of trying to splice wires... just my 2 cents, I am not really familiar with all this though LOL

You just need to buy audio harness(Color matching) to hook up with your aftermarket HU harness.
No need different bracket like most other cars.

Good DIY.

Installed mine past weekend without any problem.

Just tried the link you posted, Haika7x. Can't see the product anymore... is that an iPhone/iPod integration device you are trying to get? I got the one from Periperal, works great with my iPhone 3G. They even sent me a cable that charges the 3G as I bought the unit before they shipped with new cable.

I posted in another thread about that too... let me know if you want the link.

I do not know how much are you going to pay for it but I bought and adapter and within a week I knew I made a mistake. I bought a Alpine HU with IPOD capabilities and I so happy now
My 2 cents.
