Default trunk release button

i just discovered yesterday. i tried opening the trunk by using the trunk release button in the car. and it was working. im just wondering what could be the problem? is the button electronic or is it a latch. because a month ago, i got an alarm installed in my car. and maybe my installer missed something. its an 2008 by the way. thanks for looking

It has an electric release. Did your installer give you a new remote that is also programmed to pop your trunk? Did you check the fuse?

if your able to open it from the inside, and not with the remote, pretty sure he didnt wire the trunk pop feature on the alarm.. if its a negative wire its a straight hook up, if its a + you have to hook up a relay to get it to work..

Definitely electronic, when I took out my battery the button/or the remote won't work and had to be open manually from outside.
