I was finally able to fix it. Somewhat out of frustration, I cut the black and yellow wire that oth mentioned and rewired them together, and it did the trick. I realized that while the wire did not completely snap, the copper inside partially did. That's why it would occassionally work. Cutting this part out fixed the problem. Thank you everyone for your help.
