Default trunk release problems

hi i am having a problem with my trunk release. With the trunk closed, both button and key fob doesnt work, but when trunk is up the actuator clicks and works. i did have big gt wing, but currently removed! could it be a sign of defective solenoid or it going bad?

You likely have a break in the wiring, right where the trunk harness hinges. It makes connection once the trunk is opened.

Open the harness, you'll see the break.
