Thumbs up Tweeter Mounting Locations

Hey you guys,

Im looking for some nice component speakers and are leaning towards the infinity perfects (6.5"). I have seen them for around 200 on EBAY. I was wondering where you guys mount your tweeters? I was searching for some good pictures but could not find a good picture of what they will look like on the car. I want to put the tweeters around the area where the 03 s2k's have there tweeters mounted on the top portion of the door but do not want to make it look tacky with these tweeters. I think i am worried about how symmetrical it will look since the passenger side, i believe, buldges out unlike the drivers side. Does anyone have any pictures or input?

Thanks

Juni

You can buy just the tweeter grilles for an 04-05 and they will fit your doors, you just have to cut a hole. they are like $20 each at the dealership. Well worth it IMO

I have Alpine SPX-177a's in the doors. I custom mounted them in the stock door tweeter pods. I Dremeled out the the stock crappy looking grille and mounted the rear support cup for the Alpine tweeter into the pod. This is what they look like front and back:

How exactly do you figure that its better and more adjustable? You know that your really not suppose to have the just the tweeters pointed at your head right??...If your going to aim them at your head your suppose to have every speakers aimed at your head. I'll give you a for the idea but leaving it on a metal bracket like that, looks kinda...unfinished/incomplete maybe. If your going to do something that you should finish it and fiberglass a nice pod around it so it at least it looks nice.

Props to darkknight1999 for such a clean install, im not a big fan of the metal bracket showing. I am more into a clean stock finished look so maybe ill just go out and buy some tweeter grills for the 04 and 05.

Thanks for the replies!

Also another question,

If I install the 04-05 tweeter grills will the new aftermarket tweeters just fit in? Is there another support I need to support the tweeter and make it stay put? I am confused on how the tweeter will mount or is there a part on the tweeter grill where it can hold the tweeter. Hope it wasnt to confusing.

Thanks

I didn't use the word "better"... I was offering up another option. No cutting involved and you can return to the stock look when you sell the car. You can't argue the adjustment side. As for finished look, they are stealth if your interior is black.

Actually I can argue that. You can just install the the adjustable cup so you can angle the tweeter. Also if you install stock tweeter pods then why would he worry about having to return it to stock?

I'm sorry dude I just don't understand your logic. Doesn't make you wrong, I just totally disagree. But that's cool whatever you like, its your car
