Default understanding MODIFRY signal flow

how does the dci signal flow?

when you press the dash switch.... is this how the signal flows:

a) dash switch > radio wire harness > DCI > IR > headunit remote eye
(press dash switch, then currents goes to wireharness then to DCI, then DCI sends signal to IR, and IR acts as a remote to the radio)

b) dash switch > IR > DCI > radio harness > radio
(press dash switch, then goes straight to IR, then process through the radio's harness)

all these times i thought it was "B".... but after having a convo with rich04, he mentioned its "A" and it made more sense.
