Default Valentine V1 theoretic advantages

Read all the threads, plusses and minusses, blah, blah, blah.
Yes, it's cool to have a rear facing antenna, yes, it's cool to have laser detector, but...
#1 Is there proof that a 2nd rear-facing antenna detects rear source radar better?

and

#2 Has anyone avoided a ticket after a direct hit from "giant laser beam" when they knew they were speeding (like REALLY speeding)?

$400 is a lot of beans, but after my first $145 ticket in the S (tip: don't speed in Harker Heights, TX, very expensive for 18 mph over), it'd be worth the money if it REALLY has these advantages.

Thanks ahead of time.

If the cop lasers you first. Your screwed. But most of the time he'll laser the people that are slightly ahead of you. This is when your radar says "slow your ass down, theirs a smokey up ahead."

The V1 is the most sensitive on X band (and the most prone to false positive on that band.)

It equals the Passport 8500 on K and Ka.

Get a V1 or a Passport 8500.

...Barry Barry Barry. Personally I'd ask what the dealer has BEHIND the counter. It costs a little more but a few tickets saved will pay for it. Passport SR-1......all the way. How does it compare to the SR-1. Only have one real time encounter and at 100+ I pulled out way early. Only reason YellowS2000 was spared was the cop couldn't turn around and nab him due to the terrain. When we all stopped Yellow indicated his detector never went off....mine did . I'm sold....and have been sold on every "Escort" detector ever introduced. The parent company is Cincinnati Microwave and for those of us in the know..that's enough.

True, Escort has always had a stellar reputation (I've owned several of theirs, back from the time of the big old boxes of the 80's), but Michael Valentine (creator of the V1) IS also the creator of the original Escort. That still counts for something, too.

Sounds like either one is a great choice right now. When the next version of either one comes out, this could tilt either way....

Personally, the directional features of the V1 are the single most compelling reason for me to favor the V1, though I understand that more detectors are now offering this feature. Situations where you've just safely passed a radar unit, but the detector still shows a weak signal forwards, are where this unit pays for itself.....
