I don't have any experience with the AUX input options but I'm pretty sure it was not available on the AP1 radios. Or if it was, it required that the car come equipped with a CD changer in the trunk, which required a second connector on the head unit. My guess is an AP2 2006 or newer would have the correct connector, but I am truly guessing.

More clues?:

Installation of CD changer in 2004 S2000 shows a "BUS" cable on page 1. (Print this out or risk blindness trying to read it on line.) Radios 2004 and later appear to be XM (digital) capable which may be required for the CD changer as well. I'm think the XM antenna, remote CD changer, and your device send digital, not audio, data to the radio.

Chuck,
I have a brand new in the box OEM CD changer! That was my first thought instead of the iPod. I gave the CD changer to him and he said it didn’t fit.
Right now I can’t put my hands on the CD Changer (my mech and I think he gave it back to me). Our first task when he gets back from vacation is to find the CD Changer somewhere between the two of us.
Thanks again.
Robert

ps: before the install I downloaded everything to do with the radio/CD Changer/iPod and gave it to the mechanic. He’s good so when he said nothing in the CD Changer helped, that’s good for me. When he called and said the iPod adapter plug didn’t fit I immediately brought over the CD Changer. Which he tried.

I meant adapters to plug and play an aftermarket radio, which is my recommendation.

The only add on for an AP1 I ever installed was the discontinued usa-spec or the still available grom audio part. Those would be limited functionality. A new radio would be way better as far as ipod capabilities and sound.

Do you know of an aftermarket radio that lets you use the dash control unit?

If you get one of these from Modifry, most aftermarket radios work with the dash controls. https://modifry.com/index.php?route=...ory&path=18_46

an inexpensive alpine ute-73bt paired with a modifry harness would do you.

the radio is $120 at crutchfield or bestbuy. the premade harness from modifry is the same price, so youd be in it about $250 for a much better radio.

Thanks, I'm going to get my hands on an AP2 radio before I go modifying/adding an aftermarket unit.
