^Side-by-side tests don't really work, as the units can interfere with each other. HPH

I put both the V1 and Bel in my car for 2 months. My father was out of town for that time and I borrowed both his detectors. I ran 1 on each side of the rearview and they are almost identical. One would alert before the other almost always but you could never guess which one.

The bell actually seemed to alert sooner more often but not enough that it would make a difference.
Last month, on the way to the SouthEastern Super Meet, SlowS2k had his V1 and I had my X50. He was in front of me and we had two way radios. I could see his valentine when it would pick up something. We talked about some on that trip. Sometimes his would alert first, sometimes mine would. I would agree that you didn't know which would sound first. Also another guy had an older passport 8500 that was giving lots of false alarms.

the range isn't significantly different with these detectors, it mostly
comes down to the V1's arrows and price. while I'm sure there's
someone somewhere who owned a V1 and didn't like the arrows,
virtually everyone I know who has ever owned one wouldn't go
back to anything else. in real-world driving, they're invaluable
because they let you decide whether a random beep is a potential
instant-on threat down the road, or a burglar alarm at the walmart
you just passed.

Just put in a SRX last week... already saved my butt once... a few more and it will have paid for itself. No Laser hits yet, so can't say if the "shifting" works... not particularly eager to find out, though.

DIY install is pretty simple... obviously not as easy as sticking it on your windshield.

But the supermarket door opener on Mars doesn't count.
