Wiring Diagrams
Anyone know what the different color wires under the steering wheel where the ECU connects represents or a website that explains what every color does or is...I finished installing my turbo kit which is a Ultimate Racing Turbo Kit, but the thing is I need to wire in my Defi Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges...I wanted to do this before tuning which is on Wednesday anyone can give helpful point or tips or a website that does it all...Please HELP!
I know for a mechanical boost gauge it is pretty straight forward.
Red wire...... 12v power
Black wire.... Ground
White? (whatever color the 3rd wire is).... illumination
You can hook up all three of these wires under the driver's side dash. You will see three slots next to the fuse box. Here you can tap for 12v power and for illumination, then just ground the black wire. Lastly, just hook up your vacuum hose and your done.

Boost is not an electrical gauge. The only part on a boost gauge that is electrical is the light (lights up when headlights come on).....
The rest of the gauge is done with pressure into vaccum lines.

^ If it's a mechanical gauge. If it uses a pressure sensor it could be electrical, but I don't know if they even make "normal" boost gauges with pressure sensors. That's just how I'd build one.
My advice for anyone doing their own wiring, particularly wiring involving the engine or ECM, is to get the Helms Electrical Troubleshootingn Manual. You spent a couple thousand bucks on a turbo kit - another $45 so you don't fry the electronics sounds like a reasonable expenditure to me.

Modifry...most boost gauges get a hard thing "hose" type thing, which hooks up to the gauge at one end, and then gets T'eed to the vacuum lines under the hood. If you blow into the other end of the hose, the gauge will move. The ones that need sender units are ones like Dakota digital and such.
