from above:
if you think you might know of a 10" sub that will work, email William and he'll probably look at it. but know that it should be able to work in a sealed enclosure of .3 to .4 cu ft, have a depth of 6.125" or less, AND have a smallish diameter magnet and basket structure.
i seriously doubt a 10W3v2 would do well in there.... i could be wrong and would readily admit it publicly... but... asking a .6 to .9 cu ft speaker to work in .3 to .4?
i'm doubtful.

either or -- a JL 8W3v2 driver
call David's Car Stereo: 225-292-2902
ask for Clay, tell him Philip w/ the S2000 sent you. if Clay isn't there, Brenda (owner) will know who i am...
i'm 99% sure they have them in stock. i saw them out on display a couple weeks ago.

Would you guys recommend making my own side box with a larger cubic volume? My buddy did it and made a cutout for the hinge thingy. Its ugly, but functional.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I bought my flush mount fiberglass and MDF box on ebay for $150 shipped.....was a steal of a deal. The guy is willing to make more. His screen name is mysticthunderegg on ebay. Look him up and shoot him a PM. Let him know that I told you about the auction for the box. He said that he was willing to build more for the same price.

ps-It comes in today via UPS. I will TRY to post photos. If I cannot, can anyone host them for me?

Actually, I went to my local car audio place and asked them to make me a well box- quoted $125. Later found out that all their boxes are all made by a cabinet shop in town. I contacted the cabinet shop directly and gave them the blueprints found here :

http://www.geocities.com/mariobonifa...asurements.htm

They said they would build it out of 3/4" MDF, Screw it together, and Caulk it for $25 bucks...total out the door cost which included materials!

All I would have to do is carpet it (or make a cover). This is a pretty cheap option. Check with you local custom cabinet makers in town...see if they will throw you a deal like that!

MDF boxes are generally under 1 CF of volume. The fiberglass is lighter and has a higher volume. Generally, they start out around $225 for a custom fit box. Unless the box fits exactly, it will not look good. I bought mine because the pics showed good fit and finish. I was quoted $80 by a local upholstery shop for covering it if I made my own.

ps-PM sent with link to auction w/photos of my box
