XM Add-On With Stock 2004 Head Unit
Hey Folks--
Does anyone know which aftermarket XM receivers are compatible with the stock 2004 head unit? Might Alpine's receivers match (as I understand their CD changers do)?
I still think $400 is a little steep for the stock receiver; I'm seeing receivers on the net for $100-250 (plus antenna). I'm trying to avoid the Roady/XM Commander "pseudo-remote" if the stock HU provides "control/tuning" capability.
Thanks as usual,

No help here, I don't know anything about the '04 HU, but my suggestion would be to just get an Alpine reciever as well as the XM reciever.
I also don't like those FM modulated add on recievers like the roady. Wouldn't make for a clean looking install, and it would stick out as something to steal unlike an aftermarket HU that you can hide behind the radio door.

I installed an Alpine HU that would control the MX but at the last moment baught another XM setup. I would maybe use the car MX 1 hour a day whearas I use the other XM 5-7 hours on my bench at work. and can use it in the car.

The way I understand XM hardware, you need a receiver and a tuner. Roadys and XM Commanders combine the two.
The '04 S2000's "tuner" (i.e. head unit) is "XM ready." The factory option XM kit supplies the "receiver" for about $400.
So...what I'm looking for is an XM "receiver" that will mate with the '04's stock "tuner"/head unit.
Circuit City has receivers for $100...compatibility?
One last time...anyone?
Thanks

Some folks have said that the Honda XM receiver (to be mounted in the trunk) is made by Pioneer.
All of the Pioneer units pictured on their website have separate connectors for audio and power--seemingly different than the 14-pin connector on the factory trunk wiring harness.
Any further ideas?
Thanks

P.S. Trigeek--thanks for the PM--I'll try and call ya...

i feel your pain, i have tried to find it also and I am at a loss...
but from the instructions on handaaccessories.com it appears that it could only handle the xm or the cd changer, is that right?? and also, couldnt you just splice the wire and run it to the honda harness, i know most people don't like to cut it up but i don't have a problem doing it
