Which Xover To Use?
Hi,
Anyone ever done an A/B listening test between the crossover in their HU (I am assuming this is digital) with the crossover in their external amp (analog)?
I am curious which I should end up using. I like the idea of the digital in the HU but a really good analog crossover circuit could sound even better, and of course the crossover can make or break the audio quality. The amp would be a Memphis, one for Front and Rear and one for Sub.
Thanks!
Mike

I have heard that the HU x-over is better. I think it was MacGyver who said that....not sure. One of the guys said the x-over in the HU was more flexible and provided for better sound. I will try to find the link....

It was WLAURENT who said it. He said it about the subwoofer x-over (which my HU is lacking). Checkout my thread (JW's Troubleshooting), it is toward the end. How do you like that memphis amp? I am thinking about investing in one myself next month. Here is the quote:

Reasoning is my assumption that the electronic crossover in the HU is better than the circuits found in most amps - allowing more control from the driver seat.
