I haven't really seen anyone mention the aem piggy back controller (fuel/ignition controller). Anyone use one before? They make a model just for the s. As far as piggy backs go it looks really good with the ability to data log, use a lab top, vtec engagement and such. I am just looking for an economical option to get a little more power for some bolt on's and maybe bc 2 cams. I know more power can be made by adding timing with standalone but for under $400 this seems like a viable option.

General feeling is that it's complete junk. Some of the low boost F/I guys have had some success with it, including me, although I wouldn't really recommend it. Low boost is what it was designed for and it's basically useless for a good N/A tune because you can't advance timing, only retard it.

You're going to spend more in tuning than that unit itself. Same with the ems, you will have to drop a grand so you might as well do it right the first time; there's no economical options. Ems, haltech, kpro all require pay to play.

Tried it years ago. A well known tuner in my area called Carb Connection couldn’t get it to work right, and that was after hours of assistance from AEM and 3 separate tuning visits. Closed loop/partial throttle was the issue they couldn’t get sorted out. I blame the unit compatibility and the tuners inexperience with the device an S2000. It ended up fuel washing my motor and I was shit out of luck. Tuner blamed it on the earth shattering 10psi Comptech kit I was running on my stock healthy motor
