For anyone wondering...The last time I saw something like this, the USB cord was loose. Take the long approach to this though, remove the ECU, open it and double check that the K-pro is completely connected. You might as well double check your analog and digital connections while you're in there. Plug it all back in and double check everything before screwing the ECU back in. Sometimes it's as simple as the K-pro is connected and working, but your USB cable is bad or not connected properly.

The method to update the car is the same whether you use the button or the menu. Make sure that after you turn the car on (don't start it) go to Online->Tools-> download and see if you can pull the current map off the ECU. If you can then you are really connected and you should see those values change real time.
