Maybe a little.

This specific car now has a roll cage and bucket seats, so installation was a nightmare. I wouldn't want any customers to go through this.

I have a 2002 and could do with this. Every tuner I know recommends the AEM V2, but they're serious money for a car with just I/H/E. Are you seeking UK guinea pigs?

perhaps a harness extension to you can mount it anywhere like behind or under the seat.

A harness extension would take too much time to fabricate and will significantly increase the cost (at least $200). There's also very little room to add a "bulky" ECU anywhere inside the cabin.

With the right extension there are a 100 places to put any ECU. For those interested this guy compiled a list of parts to create extension https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/927...nsion-harness/

I apologize for this question if answered but Reverant are you going to have a US distributor?

I have already received a few inquiries from vendors, but no solid deals yet - obviously they will want to check the unit first, which makes perfect sense.

I spoke to a tuner who works for a couple of the main independent Honda tuning specialists in the south of England.

He has heard of your project and knew that it's based on the Megasquirt. He's fine with that in principle and set up a Turbo MX 5 on one a fortnight ago, since it's popular and well supported for MX 5s that lack alternatives, but he's been doing this for a decade and never seen one on an S. So he raised the following issues:
  1. How rugged and reliable will it be vs an AEM V2?

  2. Who is supporting the hardware i.e. what's the procedure if something goes wrong? How much support is available from yourselves if something breaks or doesn't work?

  3. How much support will be offered by Megasquirt?

1) It will come in an extruded aluminium enclosure. Full SMD construction/components, reflowed leaded solder (leadfree solder in automotive control systems is a bad idea).
2) Full support from us. The resellers will do some generic troubleshooting, if that doesn't work, we take over. Just take a look at the following threads:

http://www.miataturbo.net/ms-labs-mi...support-78184/
http://www.miataturbo.net/ms-labs-mi...minutes-79232/

http://www.miataturbo.net/ms-labs-mi...ievable-70590/
http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=206226

3) These units run the stock MS3 firmware, so support for the firmware will be from the main Megasquirt developers.

I'm not sure but I think the right hand drive cars might have a bit more room for the ecu.
Hope you find a good solution for us LHD guys though, I got a extension loom for my emanage unit now and it was super tight fit.

It looks like I may be able to fit it in the stock ECU housing. It doesn't look easy, but it's probably doable, and without sacrificing any features, minus the ethernet port.
