You guys may not like it, but that's how the warranty works.

The Dealer is taking on the warranty burden, not Honda. Dealers are seperate businesses from each other, One doesn't warranty anothers work just because the sport the same sign out front.

 

i have never heard of anything go wrong with a comptech setup anyway.. if the car is in for warrenty reasons like window regualtor and they see a comptech SC so what... If its in for a new motor with a SC then i see.. tell the service managers to get the stick outta there a$$.

It's not the service manager who makes the decision. It's corporate policy. One that isn't any different from any other manufacturer.

 

The cracked bracket, as far as I can tell, has been solved with bushings on the hardware on the newer kits. Didn't the original kit also crack someone's block?

Just so there's no confusion about my post:
- Comptech warrants their parts for 2 years, so a cracked bracket should in theory be covered by Comptech.

- The SC installer, be it a Honda dealer, Comptech, or whoever should give some sort of warranty on the install (for example if they hook up a hose incorrectly and you get a CEL), or the belt slips.
- Honda would still be expected to cover the 'rest of the car' that, according to some arbitrary definition, is not affected by the SC, the wiring to the ECU or the extra power it delivers. The problem is, who has time to gather evidence, go into arbitration or hire a lawyer to fight them to pay for something while you don't have a car to drive?

 

The new brackets have solved the cracking issue. DavePk's car had a cracked cylinder head from a Comptech SC.

I was making a point to Honda mann, that there have been some problems from the Comptech kit.
