From my experience, ethanol really loves high compression. Ive built a bunch of high boosted b-series motors that linger around the 10.8- 11:0 compression ratio. On pump gas, it would be a good thing to get a thicker head gasket if you are pushing the motor. The smartest thing to do is just to convert over to e85 (if available) and push the stock motor. Ethanol itself is very knock resistant.
Well crap. I was so up and down on sticking with the IP 3mm HG or just going back to the stock HG and CR when I built the head since I was going to be running e85. My tuner/buddy said to just stick with the IP 3mm HG and so I did. Do you think it would have been better to go back to the stock HG and CR or will it be fine this way too? Do you think I'll see any problems out of the IP 3mm HG and ARP headstuds pushing it to 700+ whp on e85?

I don't think you will have any issues. I like the added compression with the e85. We have tested 9:1 compared to 10.8 and the 10.8 made more power per psi and spooled the turbo slightly faster. This was on a B-series motor. We have plenty of e85 in MN, so every motor we build gets the flat tops.

Thanks LJ.

If I do end up having problems with my 3mm HG, I'll go back to the stock HG and CR knowing that you have proven it with e85.

BTW, did you ever get my PM about the oil filter relocation kit? I'd really like your input on it if you have time to get back to me on it.

Thanks

Its kind of long so please excuse all the questions. I just want a professional opinion. Hopefully my -8 lines are fine since its been like this for 7 years but if you think -10 would be better, let me know.

Thanks man.

I forgot the mention. The car is building more boost on the street then it did on the dyno. This actually hit about 32psi. The AEM A/F Guage in the car is off in the upper rpms, so dont pay attention to it Im going to ditch it for a Haltech unit soon.

Thats freaking awesome LJ!

You should have taken it to redline though. LOL BTW, is the head built? I have my head built with Supertech and am reving the stock block out to 9450 rpm. You think I'll be ok doing that with 700 whp on e85?
