The only thing I have heard and have know for awhile is that the OEM bolts will "stretch" and can only be used twice. If you are going to have your head on and off then it is better to get the studs. I got the studs for this reason. I should have done the install myself the first time as the tech isn't used to seeing a 3mm hg. ARP suggests a certain torque number but is that for a stock hg or one that is thicker/thinner? Crushing the gasket is obviously the major point in all of this.

the book does show you how to measure for bolt stretch I believe if I recall. Honestly, I torqued mine down maybe 4 times.
When they do fail I can't complain though but it's been 1.5 years since I've installed them.

Just had my 3mm replaced. I'm using ARP studs but don't think they had anything to do w/ the problem. The HG was leaking under high boost (22 psi) but fine under normal driving. Got a look at it after it came out of the car, and it was pretty obvious where it was leaking. Will post a pic when i have time if there's any interest.

If you have antireeze in your oil drain it quick and replace it with clean. The antifreeze will create tiny crystals in your engine bearings. You can say goodbye to them soon enough afterwards.

I have a 2mm cometic and arp head studs. The cometic doesnt require copper seal spray on it, the black (or dark) coating on both sides of the gasket acts as a sealant. Your supposed to install it dry.
