Is anyone running a vacuum pump to reduce crankcase pressure?

Default Is anyone running a vacuum pump to reduce crankcase pressure?

Looking for options to reduce crankcase pressure on a DD. Turbo is new, drain is straight at it can be, but i still have random puffs of smoke or will smoke for 3 seconds or so coming to a light. Sometimes it smokes a lot under boost, other times it doesnt smoke at all. The only thing I can think of at this point is the crankcase pressure is building up even though im running a catch can. Leakdown on the motor was fine so I know the rings are good.

You could run an oil scavenge pump on the turbo oil drain line. But before going through the trouble of hooking and wiring that all up, maybe try running a line from the catch can to the intake tube, between the air filter and turbo. This should provide some vacuum. The oil catch can, if it's a good one, should catch all the oil and only have clean air going back into the turbo inlet.

What turbo are you running? sounds normal for a pte turbo. A restrictor may help if you don't have one already.

Its a ball bearing so it has a restrictior built in. PTE6062. I think I may go for the scavenger pump that Ptuning uses. It's only $250

Check this thread out...I think you have issues else where.

Redboost10 has messed around with electric vacuum pumps on his engine dyno...waste of time. He tried it on a B-series engine and a K-series engine and it just could not keep up compared to a good catch can setup.

Does your catch can have a breather/ filter on it? If yes is it big enough, If not it will become pressurised. Put a picture up dude : )
