Thumbs down ATTN ALL KRAFTWERKS OWNERS

I'm a very happy AP2 Kraftwerks High Boost kit owner but I recently had a tragedy.

I don't want to hash it all out again, but suffice to say, I have a blown motor.

It all started with an oil leak on a hose that was re-run over the steering column. I have posted pictures of what to look for over on the other website in the Mile High section, "Wicked bad weekend" thread. Are we allowed to embed a link here? Let's find out!

http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=35441

I HIGHLY suggest that all Kraftwerks owners inspect the oil line that comes to/from the oil filter relocation bracket. I'm not sure if it was the feed or the return side oil line. It appears to only really be visible from underneath the car. Check the area just above the linkage in the steering column. One of the pictures in the original thread should help you find the spot. I'm assuming it took a long time for the hole to get worn in, so it's worth checking out.

MAKE SURE YOU CHOCK YOUR TIRES if you put it up on jack stands to inspect!

I really hope I'm the only one that has this problem. If not, let others know.

This advice would apply to anyone that has a relocated oil filter with external lines. You are not the 1st to cut a oil line.

IIRC, you can run the oil lines so they don't rub steering shaft.

Wow that sucks. That line on my car is nowhere near the rack. It's higher up on top of the lower radiator hose.

Thanks for the heads up but my oil lines are no where near any danger .To be fair this is not a "Kraftwerks" problem but as Slow pointed out an issue for anyone relocating an oil filter, adding an oil cooler and using external oil lines.

You're absolutly right in that the Kraftwerks kit was not at fault. This I understand and I probably should state publicly that Kraftwerks is not at fault. I never intended to paint KW in an unfavorable light. My only intent was to potentially help other KW owners.

Having said all that, I had my kit installed at a factory authrozed installation center. As such, I assumed all lines were run properly. I had no reason to audit the install so to speak, not that I have the skills to do that anyway. I'm into driving the car, not working on it. I'm a computer nerd, not a gear head. I'm only advising others to check this line as a precaution. If my shop got it wrong while following a very detailed set of instructions, so could yours.

I should also state in this thread that I'm a HUGE Kraftwerks fan, and that I'm not a detractor. I state all this in the original thread (linked in first post) and I still highly recommend the kit to anyone thats looking for more power out of their car. I will definitly be reinstalling when I get my engine back. POWER. You can never go back!

My engine has been pulled on Friday and is to be shipped to InlinePro for some Allenbuilt lovin this week. Wish me luck!

Oh, and I'm adding an oil pressure gauge. Oil pressure FTW.

Glad you are able to get the car back on the road. Stainless braided lines also work well as a hacksaw. They will cut just about anything they touch.
