Have you considered dry sleeves? You keep the OEM open deck and they have been proven. I have them, and have had zero issues.

I dont know much at all about sleeving. I know what it is, but I've only read on here that it's not as reliable as OEM. Also, Inline mentioned that once I go sleeved then I have to go custom pistons, rods, etc that;s going to drive up the cost significantly for no real benefit to me.

Oh man, this is a bummer, but you cant deny the tuning logs/Evans evaluation. Lesson learned here.

I would highly advise against sleeving if you are keeping the engine either NA or under 600whp. Your going to have a tighter tolerance engine because you don't have to gap/spec the forged aluminum pistons to iron sleeve different expansion rates, which if you did sleeve it means more blow by and piston slap right out of the box and an overall shorter cylinder longevity as a result - been there done that and sorry I did! You cant beat OEM spec for longevity if you don't need to overbuild the engine for big power like mentioned, so just keep the FRM/do what you already did, just with a better tune this time!

Detonation has something to do with the tune or the ecu not responding to knock i'd say.

It's a Hondata, they don't really respond the same as say AEM as It's passive vs active knock strategy unfortunately. It slowly shifts between three octane maps and once on lowest octane, can't do much of or retard from there. Plus most tuners numb the Hondata knock strategy because they consider it too noisy.

Also, the tune clearly showed 100s+ of knock counts but I was under the impression these were before the new motor. Turns out these logs/knock counts were on the new motor, now it all adds up.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Tuning is critical after an engine has been opened and parts have changed.

Failure is where we learn the most. Now absorb as much info as you can, so you know better for next time. Don't forget to share your new found knowledge with others along the way.

Big shout out to @fatjoe10 for hooking me up with a good core block AND personally delivering it to Inline Pro within a couple days of me reaching out to him.. Thanks again Jose!

The new block is getting bored this week and the car is scheduled to be back running within 2 weeks. It'll go through an easy 100 mile break-in and then it's going on Evans dyno for it's final tune.

Will you be using a base tune provided by Jeff Evans? Because your previous tune was held to me the reason for the previous grenade that went off in your block right?

Oh yes... Jeff is going to provide me with a base break-in, no WOT tune to use for the first 100 miles.
