My next step is going to be shimming the passenger side mount up.

Err no, they stiffen up the engine mounted but it definitely does not change the position. It retains using the same OEM position.

However, I'm very certain that you get more clearance from manifold down to mounts with the Innovative, the design is completely different from the OEM mounts.
my mistake. I thought I saw that they positioned the engine slightly lower than stock. agree with the fact that they give more clearance due to a different design.

Sounds like Innovative mounts are the way to go but they're made of steel right? Anyone know what the weight difference is betwen Innovative and stock mounts?

Any aluminum mounts for our cars?
The Innovative mounts as a set are heavier than the OEM mounts overall. A fair trade off for proper engine and transmission mounts for our cars. Dont believe there are aluminum mounts on the market for our car. But seriously, I wouldn't be too concerned. The Innovative stuff are top grade, I wouldn't bother with anything else.

petawabit - The engine definitely sits at the same height and position. The design makes it look deceiving that it might be lowered but no.

I thought about doing that, my compressor cover hits the frame too.

The shimming worked and worked well! I shimmed somewhere between 1/8 and 1/16 under the mount and 1/4 on top of it.
I'm now back in business.

fwiw, I have 75 on my hotside and 60 on my cold side. Since going turbo, there are only hot and cold sides

The tranny mount really made a difference. keeps the shifter from wobbling on higher rpms and there's is slight cabin vibration. Got used to it after 2 days of driving.

fyi innovative is offering a heat shield for us turbo guys. I know of at least one person who got it without charge.

What exactly did you shim it with, just washers?

You know what size you have, so I can make sure they are handy?

Also, what part did you shim on the mount? The part that bolts to the frame or the motor?

Yes I used washers to shim the mount. I shimmed both under the mount and on top of the mount.
This was basically because I didn't have enough of the correct size washers handy to shim only under the mount (which I would have liked).

For the washers i used on top of the mount, the hole was 1/2 inch but total washer diameter was around two inches (for better support) and the thickness of each washer was slightly over 1/8" for a total stack up of over 1/4". I also used two washers under the mount (one on each bolt that is part of the mount that goes through the sub frame). Those washers were maybe a little more than 1/16 of an inch thick... The problem there is that the bolts on the bottom of the mount are very close together and because of it the washer diameter must be small for them to fit and of course I only had two washers that would fit.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures, but it was my fifth time under the car in a week and a half to resolve the mount problem. I wasn't very happy and just wanted it done and to work!
