Joe,

I'm very interested in a supercharger like this for my S2000 but I have some questions. With the S2000's high compression, is it safe to run 10 lbs of boost??? I understand it's intercooled but it just seems like 10 lbs is a lot to run with a car that has 11:1 compression. Would it be better to lower the compression first, this seems like it would be safer and more streetable.

Also with around 240 lbs of torque, drive train upgrades are going to be a necessity.

~Subscribing~ ....$7.5k is alot of coin though....Lovefab seem's more tempting.
Actually, if you think about it $7500.00 isn't all that unreasonable if you consider your getting the supercharger kit, install, and complete tunning on a dyno.

I live in Delaware and BRP isn't that long of a drive. I could take some vacation from work, drive down, get the kit installed and try not to get arrested on the drive back home.

Really? The S2000 diff. is the same one (different ratio) that's been used in the Miata since '94, I believe. People put a lot more than 240lb-ft. through those in Miatas. Also, I was under the impression the S2000 tranny was pretty stout. Plenty of folks have put more than 240lb-ft through the Miata tranny as well, although the ~250lb-ft. marker does tend to be the danger zone for the 5-speed trannies...at least, it is if you like to really romp on the car.

I bet you guys will be perfectly fine with ~240lb-ft.

I hope your correct because I would hate to have to repair the trans or rear diff. From other posts I've read, I was under the impression that the rear diff was the weak point in this car. I'd be very happy to be wrong!!!!

Well, I bet the diff. is the weak point, but we've had folks putting 275, 300, 350 and 400lb-ft. of turbocharged and supercharged, 4-cylinder torque through the Miata rear-ends. There were even a few V8-swap Miatas that ran the stock rear-ends, but I don't know how long those lasted.

Basically, they seem to be pretty damned strong unless you're submitting them to a lot of wheelhop.

Then again, the S2000 weighs quite a bit more than a Miata, so I guess the drivetrain's being submitted to greater forces.

Un-throttled? Then what the hell did the guy touch to cause the engine to rev? Looked like a throttle cable to me...

The throttle body will be mounted to the back of the blower. In the video the supercharger was open on both ends. Once you mount everything up it'll quiet down a lot.

If we left it in the stock location and connected it to the engine it'd be just as loud and would start splitting intercoolers in two.
