I don't think dragging is abuse, but not knowing how to launch can be expensive. I run on road courses(when my car is running ). I don't think that's abuse and I'm in VTEC 20-30 minutes at a time. That being said, I personally don't think 300 miles is enough time to shake out potential hiccups, but that's just me.

I dont see the point in buying a turbo - S/C kit and not taking the cars though the gears with the performance parts installed. To me someone who buys an turbo or s/c kit and takes it to redline once in a blue moon is a waste to me.

how is it a waste?

A lot of us drive our cars on the street I'd say more than 80-90% of the time we are driving. I don't think the local authorities would like us redlining our cars while just trotting along. We'd be prone to many more run ins with the law and cause serious problems for us. And I'm just talking about redlining 1st or 2nd, which is really quick with a SC or turbo. Lets not even talk of the illegal speeds that you approach when redlining 3rd gear and up; and the consequences that could hold

Am I arguing for not pushing the car? Hell no... I "redline" gears a lot when I'm having a spirited drive esp with a caravan. And redline any other time it may be necessary. But that isn't all that common, maybe 1-2 times a month or something. Keep in mind that with the added power you don't need to "redline" gears to beat most cars that mess with you on the road, feel some power, or whatever other reason you may have to "flex your muscle" on the road.

My point in saying all of this is, I don't think that not pushing your car every single time you get in it is a "waste." Because I for one don't push my car all the time.

I'm sorry I should have explained myself better, I agree to, that not pushing the car everytime you drive it is pefectly fine, I dont push my car everytime I drive it thats for sure for the same reasons you stated. I just wanted to state that for someone who buys a turbo or SC and hardly winds it up ever is a waste, or someone who buys a beefed up differential and does not launch the car.

Oh no no...didn't mean to "pick on" what you said or call you out cuz of that or something. Just wanted to state another perspective.

And yes I also agree that if you get mods like this, then don't use them because you're afraid something will break is a waste of time and money. I have no problem winding it up if some cocky guy in a porsche or bmw wants to show off his new ride to his girl or buddy (again, within reason, making sure I'm not gonna get in trouble )

HMM. Something I keep hearing is that a turbo kit cannot blow a motor. Well the kit itslef can't but any manifacturer of any kit should tell you that boosting a motor with high compression can lead to problems. Wether at 80,000 miles or 5,000 miles. I have seen many a poeple blow motors up with good tunes and low boost. Motors break. Boosting is just like life. You never truly know when something will break down or crash.
