Clutch selection at over 400hp
Do any of you have the htguy clutch setup on a 400+hp s? I am considering this setup on my vortech s but want it to last for years. its my daily driver and want to be able to drive in heavy traffic. Im doing alot of searching and im kinda confused on what i really need to handle the power. Does it really matter what the hp rating is on the specs or should i just look at the tq capability? i see alot of brands out there and dont really know what is junk. Also, i dont want to blow up my stock rear end so the pressure plate cant be to heavy right? Will this setup be good enough?

Depends on the amount of money you are willing to part with. What you want to look at is the torque you are putting down as well. I have a Vortech system putting down over 400 rwhp, with FMIC, larger Injectors, EMS and so on, I went with an ACT 6 puck sprung for now. It will hold 490 ft. lbs. or torque and has more daily drivability than most 4 pucks. YOu can buy an Exedy, Carbonetic, ACT, Toda, or call Inline Pro and ask them about their clutch packages. It's all about what you're looking for. Get a Carbonetic twin disc clutch for $2k or a clutch starting at $695 from inline pro or an ACT like the one I got for about $500, they will all do the job considering your not pushing a ridiculous amount of HP. As far as the flywheel goes, do your homework on it, I decided not to get one for right now, as I would actually loose low end power with an extremely light flywheel. I am thinking about the Spoon flywheel since it is a little heavier than the Toda or ACT flywheels. Hope this helps.
