The shaft was way loose, I'm pretty sure something broke, can a surge cause the shaft to break?? If the bov didn't function wat problems occur??
if the shaft was loose and flailing around, then the shaft broke, bearing, or gear pin broke. if your bov had a leaking gasket and the vac was still hooked up, it was blowing off plenty. your issue had to do with something else dude. idc what Vortech said.
its there to "purge" the compressed air since it has nowhere to go once the throttle body closes. it keeps the system alive and well basically.
if yours was broken and was not "blowing off" you would have noticed extreme bucking and very sensitive throttle response as the pressurizes air would always need an evacuation route when under low-closed throttle conditions. you would have posted up about that before a destroyed compressor if that was the case.
something annihilated your compressor wheel/housing, but it wasnt surge.

Last compressor wheel I saw with that type of damage had eaten a rag that a helper in the pits thought it would be useful to stuff up the inlet piping while he had the air cleaner off.
The intercooler was filled with stuff like fine goose down that used to be the rag.
