Yes you can easily use a labtop with the greddy support tool. Its basically the software and a interface cable that connects your emanage to your labtop

exactly, well you can use it to control boost and you do not have to lug a computer around........but I think you have to se like a hand held controller to make adjustments

Gotta get this now to retard timing a bit.

I know I'll be laughed at here, but do you still need the FMU with the emanage or can you increase the fuel enough with the emanage alone? Would it be advised to just get the emanage and not even bother with the vortech black box set up?

Since I don't have an emanage infront of me, where do you enter the "4-8-C"

Is the emanage just plug and play? Splice a couple wires?

Thanks

I was wondering if it would be good just to retard timing at around 8500 - 9000 rpm by 1 - 2 degrees to keep everything running safe. Would this be enough timing retard in hot weather or would more be better? Also does 1 degree timing retard effect performance that much?

If I am not mistaken, detonation can occur anywhere in the RPM range...... for FI applications, unless you are a tuning guru... you should retard timing by a few degrees across the rpm range... This is more of a safe guard than anything else....

One of the main reasons for detonation on an FI application is going to be heat. So, his assumptions are correct - retarding the timing at higher RPMs is a decent idea. And right now, we're running the car with up to -8 degrees of timing at 9K (way safe just until we get the car on the dyno). We did some street tuning today with the wideband hooked up, just trying to smooth out the drivability rough spots (part throttle, etc) Dyno-tune should be Thursday...should be an interesting day.

I gotta buy me a wideband. So nice to have.

What about a water injection kit? Would one be able to run closer to detonation without running the risk of blowing anything up?
