i actually am putting in a new clutch and a flywheel in two days ( by myself not a mechanic, and so will be the FI if i finally get to it) it is rated to 383Lb so i should be good if i go low boost. so the question what is all needed to make the engine reliable just as it is with out the FI system?

Is it and ap1 or 2? If it's an ap2 I think the gener consensus is with a solid tune 500whp is pretty reliable. If it's an ap1 I believe it's suggested to upgrade to atleast ap2 retainers. The motors are pretty stout. 5 grand can be done, just got to get lucky and find a good deal. My entire turbo setup from oil relocation kit to injectors and clutch was about 4500. That was from stock car to leaving the tuner with 500whp. But I found a killer deal.

If you want to be able to pass emissions, I'm pretty sure your only option is K-Pro. If your priorities are reliability and being able to drive it on the track I think you'll be much happier with a supercharger. You should be able to find a used one for a decent price. Have you given any though to tires? You will need a lot more grip with FI.
