You should lower vtec if its not to like 4k because the full race manifold wants vtec lower, it will give a LOT more midrange. I use a log with that same turbo and make less peak torque but drop off a lot less as well. You are pushing that compressor and turbine wheel to their maximum with the #'s your getting so its normal for torque to drop some.
And it definitely hits HARD at 5500. Kinda like warp speed. I like it.
