Why would you need a 3mm Head Gasket For? Are you boosting 25psi? NOO!

Trust me its Safe, We have The Best S2000 Tunner In Puerto Rico, Also the guy is the Tunner of MOST CENTRAL FLORIDA TURBO CARS. And the Stock SHORTBLOCK WILL EASILY HANDLE 16PSI of Boost!

More than that boost levels you should change your pistons and rods, but other that THAT you are safe!

One of my friends ChrisS2k He totaled his S2k he dynoed 519WHP@19Psi on STOCK ENGINE, and AEM EMS with C16Race Fuel.

[QUOTE=tof,May 22 2007, 06:38 AM]

I was going to ask if you ran the car hard very often at anything like those power levels and, if so, how long you expeced the engine to last.

Then I saw your location in your sig. You guys in PR have a reputation (well earned, I expect) for making crazy power and using it regularly. Is there something in the water over there that turns everyone into a gearhead?

This is the Sakura

It did a 7.66 quarter-mile Elapsed Time at 173 mph, only to turn around and do a 7.56 ET at 176 mph, then finish the day with a 7.48 ET at 176.3 mph.

The gasket is there to lower compression to prevent pre-detonation. The safe tuning window is very dependent upon the incoming air conditions (pressure and temperatures). With increased pressure and/or temperature, the window just gets smaller and smaller. The strength of the block really has nothing to do with the boost level. You could have a SHITTY turbo manifold that would result in the need for 18 or 19 pounds of boost to reach 300 rwhp, and you would still only be making like 180 rear wheel torque. Your engine sees the 180 rwtq, not the 19 pounds of boost.

I'm not sure you have a good understanding of engine dynamics, particularly regarding forced induction.

C16 race fuel is very different than 93 octane. Higher octane fuel widens the tuning window quite a bit, allowing you to have a more aggressive tune and still avoid pre-detonation. My engine produces 293 rwtq at 18-19 psi on pump gas, if my manifold/turbo/exhaust were less restrictive and I held that all the way to redline, I would be making 510-520 rwhp. Stock engine with headgasket. What I'm getting at is the max stress your friend's S2000 engine sees is almost identical to mine. I'm able to reach those torque levels on pump gas because of the 3mm headgasket. His motor would blow up LONG before if he tried that without C16.

Headgasket FTW. Your evaluation of headgaskets FTL.

I understand your point!

I know what my S2k is capable of, So i DONT Need Any Headgasket!

I Have 380WHP@12psi! Without any Engine or ECU MOD!

Now Upgrading to EMS and welcome 400+ With no HeadGasket!

Gee, jim...kind of condescending don't ya think?

And its preIGNITION or just detonation...not predetonation. I'm gonna get ya yet. Predetonation is something the Lutherins believe in, iirc.

The bar was set low with the gay comment. Not that there's anything wrong with that
