Hey all, I think I need to explain myself a bit. I probably sound like I knocked Greddy for not going with a BOV on our car. Truth is, its my own belief. My main gripes are I dont like the sound and I feel a slight lag when shifting at WOT between gears. I'm hoping that adding a BOV will at least addresses two of these issues and bring my mind at ease.

I am going to try to break the 300whp mark with the kit but I probably wont get to that for about a month. I really want to get several things on before I start my visits to the tuner.

I dont think its fair to compare greddy kits with other kits. Greddy in itself offers those seeking FI a whole new option that didn't exist before. Included in the price are injectors and e-manage which is real nice. Also, the kit is easly to install so you can save yourself a lot of $$$ again. And when you add all the supporting goodies (Guages, Boost Controller, BOV, etc) you'll end up spending a lot less than others. Also, Its CARB approved (I actually got my sticker from Chris himself yesterday).

What else could you want...

Richard, i don't think anyone is thinking you knocked the kit (myself included). I hope you don't feel that way from my long bov post, b/c honestly, that was just to inform others, since so many people wonder why the kit didn't come w/ a bov and think the car will run poorly w/o one. Everyone has their reasons for adding a bov, myself included! I in fact, have a bov, b/c i like the cleaner sound and the RS bov is actually quieter than the compressor surge. So you're not alone on that Richard. Just didnt want ppl to have misconceptions about the bov on the greddy kit.

i've always wondered the same. No one can say at the moment, since no one has tried it yet w/ the greddy kit (that i know of). i've posted up in the competition forum and they pretty much just say to keep a watchful eye on everything, have all the cooling mods, and have gauges so you can know what is going on w/ the car at all times. Cooling mods will be one of the most important factors w/ a turbocharger b/c of the extreme heat. a vented hood, oil cooler (since the turbo is oil cooled), aluminum radiator, etc. The kit is low boost, so the motor should be fine. Just be careful and keep an eye on everything. Always check the oil fittings and lines. B/c the turbo kit includes so many different oil lines, there's just that many other areas that you could spring a leak from. No oil on the track = blown motor!

I did an HPDE with the Greddy turbo last October at Summit Point in West Virginia. I was scheduled for 5 20 minute sessions but I had to cut my 4th session short and call it a day as my car overheated in addition to my very worn stock s02s losing a ton of grip as the day wore on.

Whatever you do, don't do what I did which was almost nothing! Other than checking my fluid levels and installing some Hawk brake pads, I rolled the dice and tried to get my sessions in with what I later discovered was a severely handicapped car. In addition to being on my original overly rich crappy tune, I showed up at the track with a cracked manifold hidden by heat wrapping so I never even noticed it. I did all those sessions with exhaust shooting out of my manifold! During my first session, the car sputtered badly and a huge gout of flame shot out of my exhaust, visible from the stands, and was seen and enjoyed by all. Afterwards, my check engine light starting flashing and the car died as I pulled off to the side out of traffic. I waited about 30 seconds and the car started right back up as if nothing had happened. I was blackflagged since everyone thought I had spun out, but I was "ok" for sessions 2 and 3 but session 4 showed 5 bars on my temp gauge. My hood is not vented and I have no oil cooler or aftermarket radiator.

I would never do that again without proper mods and preperations, but I did have a blast out there running down stock s2000s, some with 4.77 gears. HUGE difference on the straights, but my mediocre cornering ability cancelled it out.

I don't think this kit can hit 350 with just 10psi. There were a few people with boost creep issues (creeping up to ~9psi) and they were only around the 300 mark, I don't think they even actually hit the 300rwhp mark.
I've read that with proper tuning, 350 rwhp is possible but definitely not with the base map that comes with the kit. The map that comes with the kit can handle 10 psi but the tuning would be off a little bit. Just a little tuning here and there, and voila... 350 rwhp.

But I guess we really won't know until someone actually tries it.

yes, the map is tuned for up to 10psi. i have an 80mm catback.

But whoever is deciding to do this, do your research on these forums! I hardly run on 10psi. It makes that much power b/c its still got high compression. It is commonly known that 10psi i just about the limit for the stock head gasket. I'm not in any hurry for my gasket to blow out so i run on the base setting 99% of the time which for me, is not much different (286rwhp).
I ordered my Spugen Exhaust today, and a high-flow cat as well. I am going to order the Greddy Kit in may or so, anybody have any idea what gears may fit my setup nicely, or will it just be way to much shifting to enjoy the boost????????? Also I plan on keeping the clutch stock for now, I would rather blow my clutch then my rear-end

I just got back from the gym and playing around with the spring rate in the BOV. I can tell you 100% that a BOV makes a difference. Before, I would get a kick (feels like a slightly messed up shift) everytime I do a shift at full boost. I tried for a few days adjusting my shift technique but couldn't get it down. Now with the BOV, it shifts like stock with a nice on-off-on boost transition... oh and it sounds great too!

Now if it would only stop raining in socal
